Let’s face it: few people would actually admit to enjoy the process of packing up a house-full of possessions and begin the laborious and tedious process of moving into a new home and having to pack things into storage. With the thought of moving, sometimes even parents want to cry.
But to keep your kids well behaved and occupied during the moving process, you need to have a few activities that can keep them engaged….
One innovative way to involve the kids in the moving and storage process is to let them get in touch with their artistic side. Give them some boxes to decorate with stickers, non-toxic markers- and paints. While you’re taking care of important logistics, your kid(s) will feel like they are having fun; moving won’t be a boring process.
Kids can also learn responsibility at an early age. Delegate some tasks to them. Kids, even though they love to play, also at times like to prove their worth and make their parents proud. Have your kids create a list of their important items. Chances are, stuffed animals and books will be high on the list. After your kids create their list, tell them to organize their things by categories. They can even arrange their toys into subcategories. Not only will this keep the kids involved, it will make the moving process that much more organized.
